Kelsall Medical Centre is producing regular newsletters for patients. These can be downloaded from the Centre's website or collected from the reception.

For all appointments including Emergency GP appointments:

1. Between 08.00 to 18.30 Monday to Friday please call the Medical Centre on 01829 751 252.

2. Out of hours: When the Centre is closed please call 01244 385300.

After 33 years, Pauline Tilley stands down

At the May 2012 AGM of the Parish Council, our longest serving Councillor, Pauline Tilley, decided to step down from the role as Chair. Pauline has dedicated the past 33 years to supporting the Parish Council are we are all extremely grateful for the huge amount of time she has given the community, all on a vountary basis. In her time on the Council she has presided over a range of Council actions that have led to improvements in our quality of life - the community shop, the new recreation field, primary school improvements and much more.

Pauline has agreed to remain on the Parish Council as Deputy and Garry Charnock has agreed to take on the role of Chair.

'Letters from the future' to be shown at Coop film festival

Our recent film, 'Letters from the Future' will be shown at the Coop Film festival on 7 October at the National Media Museum in Bradford.The film was made by four Ashton Hayes girls - Eleanor Hart 13, Emily Hopkins 11, Grace Owen 11 all of Ashton Hayes and Bella Ball 11 from Mouldsworth. It was produced by Elizabeth Barlow (Bootcamp) and coordinated by Kate Harrison. The filmed was financed by a £4000 grant from DECC under the Low Carbon Communities programme.

The Co-op Film Festival is a non-competitive and not-for-profit youth initiative run by The Co-operative to encourage young people to co-operate, develop creativity and express themselves. It is one of the longest running film festivals in the country and a huge celebration of young people’s creative film-making! It’s been going for a massive 45 years.

Large crowd attends our launch of field, pavilion and electric car

Despite the temptation of the Wimbledon Men's Finals, the launch of the Ashton Hayes new recreation field with its low carbon pavilion and community electric car, drew a huge crowd. The fabulous new facilities were opened by the Lord Mayor of Chester, Eleanor Johnston and Amy Pattinson, and the event opened by the Deputy Lieutenant, David Newton. The community shop did a roaring trade in ice cream and drinks and the Ashton Hayes Sports and Recreation Association, which developed the new field, signed up many 'Friends of the Field'. The Going Carbon Neutral Project played its role by raising the finance for the building and car (£300,000) - thanks to DECC. See more photos on Flickr provided by Lynn & Richard May. MBE Honour for Helen Rimmer!

Congratulations to our village postmistress, Helen Rimmer, who was awarded the honour of Member of the British Empire (MBE) on 11 June to mark the Queen's birthday. The well deserved award was given to Helen for her services to the community of Ashton Hayes, where she has been a stalwart of community activity for as long as we can all remember.

Ashton Lane repairs and closure

Please note the following temporary road closure to enable Cheshire West and Chester Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and drainage works. The works are due to commence on Saturday 5th March 2011 and are expected to last up to 5 days.

Not to be missed: fund raising events for the new village recreation ground:

Quiz Night: Golden Lion. Saturday, 19th February. Starting at 7.30pm. Tickets £7.50 each.

Chilli and rice supper included. Maximum 6 people per team. Prizes include bottles of wine kindly donated by the pub.

Spring Disco
The Village Hall (Old School). Saturday 19th March. Starting at 7.30pm. Tickets £12.50 each.
Spring themed disco. Supper included.

Here is an artist's impression of the new 'carbon neutral' changing rooms we are building in Ashton Hayes. The highlly insulated building will come complete with a PV array, solar water heating, and charge the new Nissan Leaf community electric car. Thanks to DECC and the Going Carbon Neutral team for their support and everyone else who is working so hard to complete the project.

Salt and sand mixture for icy weather

The Parish Council has organised the delivery of a large bag of sand and salt mixture which residents are encouraged to use to keep pathways and pavements clear of ice in the cold weather. The 1 tonne bag has been placed outside the pub, next to the phone box. Please take care when you use the supplies and help less able people to keep their walkways clear.
